Biographical

Lydia G. Stickle was born May 21, 1892, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Mr. & Mrs. John A. Stickle. For 13 years (1911-1924) she served as a school teacher at various schools in Canada, interspersed with studies at Walla Walla College and Pacific Union College. From 1924 to 1926 she worked at the Ellen G. White Estate Office at Elmshaven, California, helping to compile the Index to the Ellen G. White writings.

In 1926 she married William Ludlow Davy, a missionary to Nyasaland, Africa, immediately accompanying him to the mission field. She was likely his second wife, since there is a record of a Mrs. W.L. Davy who passed away from black water fever a year earlier in Nyasaland.

Lydia G. Davy wrote a number of articles about mission work in Africa, as well as several book manuscripts on prayer. As was common at the time, her articles were published under the name Mrs. W. L. Davy.

After serving in Africa for thirty years (1926 to 1956), Lydia G. Davy retired and returned to North America.
