Biographical

John Ernest Monteith was born to Irish parents in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, on August 16, 1908. He was baptized a Seventh-day Adventist in 1926. Receiving his B.A. degree at McMaster University in Hamilton in 1939 and his M.A. at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in 1950, he engaged in educational work for 45 years. For 19 years he taught in elementary schools, and for 20 years he has been on the staff of Essex District High Schhol, first as a history teacher, later heading the Department of Guidance and Counseling. He taught at Oshawa Missionary College for six years.

Content Description While J. Ernest Monteith was a student at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in 1947, he followed up an old interest in Seventh-day Adventist history. Hunting through old Review and Heralds, he tried to trace the development of Seventh-day Adventist work in Canada.
