Biographical

Erwin R. Gane (b. 1931) was born in Oakleigh, Victoria, Australia, to Edward Roy Gane,an Adventist pastor, and Olive Vesta Gane. At the age of 24, Erwin completed a double-major in History and Education, with a minor in Economics, at the University of Sydney, in Australia. He began his teaching career at the Sydney Seventh-day Adventist High School and at Avondale College. Later, after a year of ministry in the North New South Wales Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, he enrolled at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University and completed a Master of Arts in Religion, a Masters of Divinity, and a Masters of Theology. He earned a PhD at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Gane served as a professor at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Pacific Union College in Angwin, California. He also worked in the White Estate at the General Conference before serving as pastor at the Trention Adventist Church in New Jersey. From 1986 to 1995, he worked in the General Conference Sabbath School Department as the Editor for the Adult Sabbath School Quarterly.

He authored several books including Heaven’s Open Door (1989), The Battle for Freedom (1990), This We Believe (1993), Enlightened by the Spirit (1995), You Ask, God Answers (1998), Jesus Only: Paul’s Letter to the Romans (2005), An Examination of Desmond Ford’s Book, Right with God Right Now (2009), Trumpet After Trumpet (2012), and Christ Reveals Himself and the Future (2014).

On January 7, 1953, Erwin married Winsome Lillian Baron. Erwin and Winsome had two children, Roy and Calvin. Roy Gane later became a professor in Old Testament Studies at the Andrews University Seminary.

Following this, the collection contains his series of Bible studies, his radio talk series, his alphabetized sermons, other miscellaneous talks and Bible studies, his scholarly writings, a general collection of research materials and notes, and materials written by his son, Roy.
