S. Parker Smith is the son of Seventh-day Adventist Church pioneers Uriah and Harriet Smith. He was born at Battle Creek, Michigan, January 16, 1872, and died August 3, 1962, in San Fernando, California. He graduated from Battle Creek College in 1895, and four years later he married Bessie Stowell. In 1901 they went as missionaries in Inter-America for two years. On their return he began teaching at San Fernando Valley Academy, in California where he stayed until 1918. In 1952, six years after Bessie’s death, he married Catherine Small.
