Adriel Chilson was born in December 21st, 1919 in Takoma Park, Maryland, USA. He married Winifred White great‐granddaughter of Ellen G. White. After Winifred’s death, Chilson married Hester. He fathered four children ‐ two sons, Bob and Don, and two daughters, Carol Lewis and Eileen. He had eight grandchildren.
Chilson served as pastor in the Oregon, Wisconsin and Nevada‐Utah conferences. He wrote several books and had articles published in many periodicals. His passion for Seventh‐day Adventist history is clearly reflected in his books: “Trial and Triumph on a Western Frontier” – primarily about early Adventist work in Wisconsin, “They Had a World to Win – Fascinating Glimpses Into the Lives of Our Adventist Pioneers”, and “Gospel Viking” about John G. Matteson.
Adriel Chilson died on July 26, 2005 in Spokane, Washington.

The Adriel D. Chilson Collection consists of three parts: Nels P. Neilson, John G. Matteson, and various other writers concentrating primarily on Seventh-day Adventist activity in Brazil and South America. The collection appears to be truly a collection put together by Mr. Chilson. Parts 1 and 3 have some connection in that most of the writers were at one time in South America.
