Smith / Bovee, Uriah / Mark, 1832- 1903
Person
The Smith/Bovee collection is one of the most substantial familial collections of core early Sabbatarian Adventist materials in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The collection contains two distinct types of materials: those relating to Uriah Smith (1832- 1903) and his immediate family, and those of his grandson, Mark Leon Bovee (1899- 1990). Together they compliment each other by documenting three generations of life as Seventh-day Adventists.
This collection is, practically speaking, two separate collections merged into one. The first part pertains to Uriah Smith and his immediate family. The second part is Uriah Smith’s children following his death in 1903 and the life, activities, and interests of Uriah’s grandson, Mark L. Bovee. While this is a merged collection, done so by Mark Bovee, it rather naturally falls into the above mentioned two parts.
