Franklin E Belden (1858-1945) was a publishing house worker, song writer, and a nephew of Ellen G. White. He wrote hundreds of songs and hymns, in most cases both words and music. In partnerships with Edwin Barnes, Belden was the musical editor of Hymns and Tunes published in 1886. Later he compiled the popular Christ in Song. He also compiled or edited many other songbooks. In the early 1900s conflicts arouse related to songbook publishing which eventually led to his separation from the church in 1907.
