John Peter Anderson was born on May 6, 1886 at Kiron, Iowa. He was a Seventhday Adventist minister who served the church for nearly forty years in China, and helped to establish the China Training Institute at Chiaotoutseng, Kiangsu. He died on March 18, 1978 at Lakeport, California.

Scope and Contents The collection contains diaries covering the period 1943-1945, written as letters, but never sent, to his wife Ethel, who was in the United States. There are also tapes of interviews recorded by C. Mervyn Maxwell at Anderson's bedside.
