Edwards, Calvin W.
Person
Calvin Edwards, a former Seventh-day Adventist, took classes at the Theological Seminary at Andrews University. He became disillusioned with the Adventist church and finally renounced his membership. One of his interests was collecting early Seventh-day Adventist literature on Galatians and Ephesians as they relate to the law of God as well as an additional interest in the A. F. Ballinger publication, The Gathering Call. Gary Land, History professor at Andrews University, collaborated with Edwards and used the collection for their book on Ballenger, Seeker After Light: A. F. Ballenger, Adventism, and American Christianity, by Calvin W. Edwards and Gary Land, published by Andrews University Press, 2000.
Edwards was a student in Australia when the theological controversy, sketched in this collection, began in the 1970s. He moved to Andrews University in about 1978 or 1979 to earn a graduate degree from the Theological Seminary. In the early 1980s Edwards was associated with Desmond Ford and his organization, Good News Unlimited.
