This collection mainly contains Leona Running’s materials used to write her book, <title>William Foxwell Albright: A 20th Century Genius.</title> The book was co-authored with David Noel Freedman, another graduate student of Albright, and an internationally leading figure in the study of the Bible and the ancient Near East. Materials included in this collection include numerous published works and article drafts with handwritten corrections by Albright dating from 1910 to 1970's; tapes and transcriptions of interviews with Albright’s family members, friends, colleagues and former students conducted by Running, Freedman, and one of Freedman’s student. There are also nine original letters signed by Albright, plus dozens of copies of Albright’s letters to his family members in his early years and some of his correspondence with others. There are also photographs of Albright and his family. The manuscript of Running’s book, <title>William Foxwell Albright,</title> is also included.

Leona G. Running donated the bulk of this collection in August 1983. Some additional material was added in 2000 which related to the second edition of the book published in 1991.
