Content Description

The May-Ellen Colon Collection consists of the raw data used by May-Ellen Colon in writing her PhD dissertation, entitled “Sabbath-keeping practices and factors related to these practices among Seventh-day Adventists in 51 countries.” A survey entitled “Sabbath Observance Exploratory Survey (SOES) was used to compile the data for Colon’s research. This collection includes a sample SOES as well as the study’s completed surveys. Surveys that were improperly filled out and could not contribute to the numerical data were categorized by colon as “excluded surveys.” Due to time limitations, Colon’s research was restricted to only 5 divisions of the SDA Church. As of the processing date of this collection (2005), May-Ellen Colon is assistant director of Sabbath School and Personal Ministries at the General Conference.
