Braulio Perez Marcio (1904 to 1974) was born near Salamanca, Spain, on March 26, 1904. The Perez family moved to the Americas in 1908. At the age of seventeen he became a Christian under the preaching of Marcelo I. Fayard and Luis Rojas Ayala. He received his education in Argentina, graduating from River Plate College in 1930. Following graduation he gained recognition as an outstanding educator, author, and poet. In 1931 he married Felisa Garcia. At the time he was director of the Central American College of Seventh·day Adventists in Costa Rica. Later he was pastor, evangelist. and youth director for the Inter-American Division. In 1942 there was an urgent need for the development of the Spanish component of the Voice of Prophecy program. He is remembered primarily as the founder of the Spanish radio program, La Voz de la Esperanza. At its height, Elder Perez' voice was heard by more than 70 million listeners on over 500 radio stations. He was the director and speaker for the program for thirty years. In 1970 Andrews University bestowed on him an honorary Doctorate. Braulio Perez Marcio passed away on April 8, 1974, at the age of 70. This collection contains biographical data, letters, writings, and all funeral records. There are also audiotapes with music and sermons recorded by La Voz de la Esperanza.

This collection was given to the Andrews University Adventist Heritage Center by Felisa G. Perez Marcio, Braulio Perez Marcio’s wife, in 1979.
