Letterbook, President, 1911 - 1912

 Item — Box: 1
Identifier: I

Content Description

From the Collection: The collection consists of three boxes containing various corporate records of the Ohio Conference, including record books of the Conference for the first 42 years of its existence. Also included is the church record book for the first Seventh-day Adventist Church organized in the state of Ohio, Lovetts Grove.

A considerable portion of the collection is material from the Ohio Tract and Missionary Society. The society promoted the distribution of SDA publications, evangelistic correspondence or visitation by volunteers, and relief and welfare activities. The first Society was organized in New England in 1870. The Ohio Society began in 1872.

The letterbooks contain copies of outgoing letters only. The incoming letters are presumably no longer in existence.

The miscellaneous correspondence, in general, is of no real consequence. Two letters, however, are of some interest. They deal with Dr. Harry Miller, the famous "China Doctor," and Ohio's role in funding his travel expenses to China.

For access to the Ellen White letters, it is best to visit the Ellen White Research Center at Andrews University or one of the others located throughout the world.

The time span covers primarily 1863 to 1913.

The following items are kept with the Adventist Heritage Center periodicals:

• The Home Missionary, volume 4, no. 2, (February 1892) to volume 5, no. 11 (December 1892) plus "Extra" for December 1893.
• The Welcome Visitor, volume 1, no. 1 (November 5, 1896) to volume 5, no. 32 (January 2, 1902), volume 8, no. 1 (January 6, 1904) to volume 9, no. 50 (December 27, 1905)
