Content Description

The focus of the collection is on the meaning of the word ‘law’ in the Bible books of Galatians and Ephesians. The collection is almost entirely photocopies of materials from various sources related to A. F. Ballenger on these topics. In addition, there are several Ellen G. White manuscripts on the topics of divorce, infidelity in marriage, remarriage, and the meaning of the seventh commandment. Copies of Adventist publications in folder 1 (1888-1909) seem to track where Ballenger was working at the time he is mentioned in the articles. Many articles, originally written by Ballenger while he was in Great Britain, describe the progress of the Adventist work in that area, mentioning new converts by name.

Arrangement

The total collection is generally arranged chronologically. A few copies have no date and are placed next to the dated documents which were before or after them in the original order. There are a few duplicates – reduced copies are placed with original size copies of the same material. The SDA publications were originally in random order but were rearranged into chronological sequence. The original order of The Gathering Call was not disturbed. The 4" x 6" note cards were removed from the copies and placed separately since there was no apparent reason for their original placement. The copies of Galatians and Ephesians material were originally in complete packets as if purchased for a class. These copies were removed and the duplicates placed together in the original order.
