Charles L. Kilgore (1869-1941) was the son of Robert Mead Kilgore (1839- 1912), a pioneer in the Adventist work in Texas who later served in top administrative positions in the Illinois, Georgia, and Southern Union Conferences. After graduating from Battle Creek College in 1891, Charles L. Kilgore worked for a time for the American Sentinel, the publication of the Religious Liberty Association. He went on to serve in several administrative capacities in Texas, Oklahoma, and later in Tennessee, including acting as business manager and commercial teacher at the Southern Training School. In 1910 he moved to South Lancaster, MA, where for 22 years he served as secretary-treasurer and auditor of the Atlantic Union Conference.
