All users of this collection are required to complete the “Application to Use Unpublished Records,” and to observe the regulations specified in the “Patron Agreement” and “Researcher’s Code of Conduct.” Due to the medical nature of the contents of this collection most records in this collection are not open and available for research without special arrangements. Arrangement

The first main division of the collection consists of patient files, which follow their original arrangement by patient identification number, which was assigned according to admission date, therefore with few exceptions, the patient files are arranged chronologically. The Second main division consists of patient cards, a cataloging system used by the sanitarium personnel to locate patient files. They are arranged alphabetically by year. The third main division is an assortment of legal and financial papers related to the sanitarium, arranged by type. A database file is attached to this register to assist in finding files and information about a desired patient. It should be noted that patient numbers with a half are located in the file with its corresponding whole number. For example #150 ½ is located in the same folder as #150.
